Topic #2

"Anemone Nemorosa and the Deer by Trine Wejp-Olsen "

I like how light this work is. I wish I could see the real thing .. real close. It intrigues me by the fact that there would be more to this piece if I was able to see it all. The objects are entirely unrelated, but they manage to co-exist among the blue spills. It's not really a forest or a field, but it seems that in their world no one would even care. The unrelation seems dreamlike, peaceful..

Quirks

Some nights are priceless.

Juan: *reaching for a bag of boxes on a high shelf* I need help! I can't get it down.
Me: *not even taking time to think* Just keep playing with it. You'll get it down eventually.
Joe: *begins to giggle hysterically in the background* Nice..
Jessica: How do you think the rest of us have to do it?

When life gives you lemons .. like 30 of them .. really
.. take 'em home and stick 'em in your fridge!
You can decide what to do with them later.

Anyone want some lemons?

How do you feel about art-making right now?

Hmm, where to start..

I'd make art if I had the time. I mean, I'd make what I want. If I knew how, I'd even make movies, which is what I really want to do, but there's no time to learn. Thus, there is no art. It makes me happy when I can manage to pull of a concept sketch once in a while.

It's frustrating. Even though if I make what I want, I still need to worry about getting out to the people. The kinds of people we expose ourselves to now, to be influenced by, are not what I do. Thus how ever well they do, doing what ever that it is they do, does not affect me. Or does it? Having my things called immature not even a year ago gave me a hint that I should follow a different road, thus since then I have done nothing for myself. Perhaps overreacting.. (I did do one sketch recently, and looking at it is like crawling into a warm bed in the middle of a winter night. Sometimes I open my sketchbook just so I can have a convenience of glancing at it once in a while. It's not finished nor is it that great, but I love it. I may post it up sometime.)

Confused .. I think that's my opinion on art-making. I want to, but what and when?

As for others, there are too many trends. It makes me wonder what it is that people enjoy in their work.. how much do they love it. There is a large flow. A lot of work is being produced. However I am yet to find my type of art in galleries. Since the start of this class and the continuous quest through more gallery websites, not once did I stumble across anything similar. It does not prevent me from appreciating the work, but almost makes me feel left out, shunned, and hopeless. Perhaps overreacting again..

On a somewhat related topic .. Good-bye right arm! You've served me well. T_T
